Kia introduces a new generation of vehicles with the EV6

What is the Kia EV6?

Want to hear a shocking fact? The future of automotive fuels is quickly leaving gasoline behind in favor of efficient and power electrified powertrains. Kia intends on being a leader on this new automotive industry frontier and our manufacturing partner is well on their way to developing a production-ready vehicle. So, what is the Kia EV6? The Kia EV6 is the future of the automaker’s lineup and its first battery-electric vehicle (BEV) to be built on a purpose-built chassis architectureIn a presentation to the industry at the end of March 2021, Kia unveiled the EV6 and its quick-charging capabilities as well as some other important information. Let’s take a closer look at what we know at this point.

“EV6 is the embodiment of the new Kia. It is born to inspire every journey, through bold design, progressive engineering, innovative technologies, and exciting electric performance. EV6 also represents the beginning of Kia’s long-term commitment to sustainable mobility, accelerating the transition not only to clean transportation, but also products, materials and manufacturing.”

What kind of vehicle is the Kia EV6?

When the Kia EV6 (or whatever it is called for the North American market) goes on sale, it will take the form of a sleek compact crossover SUV. In order for the EV6 to take full advantage of its new electric drivetrain, it needs to be light and nimble, but it also needs to be something people can use every day. It will have two rows of seats, potentially holding up to five people. When the EV6 is holding people in its rear row, there will be 18.3 cubic-feet of cargo volume to use. Additionally, those seats can be folded down to make up to 45 cubic-feet of cargo volume available.

Kia designers were careful to use every available square inch of space in the EV6 electric vehicle. They found a way to provide small-item storage space under the hood of the vehicle since it didn’t need to hold a bulky internal combustion engine.

Kia EV6 Performance Estimates

Nobody will be able to accuse the Kia EV6 of being boring. The compact electric motor will be able to push the vehicle to more than 60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds. Additionally, early Kia testing has shown that the EV6 will be able to reach a (track only) top speed of more than 160 miles per hour. Finally, drivers can expect the Kia electric crossover SUV to be able to travel around 316 miles on a fully charged battery.
