The fuel tank inside your Kia vehicle features a small ball-like sensor that floats in the gasoline in your tank. As the gasoline is used up by your vehicle, the level decreases along with the sensor. At a certain point, the gasoline level will drop low enough that the ball with touch the bottom of the tank and no longer float. This will then activate the Low Fuel Warning Light.

It is estimated that when the ball sensor reaches the bottom of the fuel tank, there are about 1.5 gallons of gasoline left in the tank.
